Fitness for Service - Brittle Fracture (API 579, Part 3)

somebody help me..i'm a last semester student on mechanical engineering. My final project is about API 579 part 3..Any body can help me to give me some usefull cases according to my task??please help me..

For vessels and columns ,This chapter has to be read with ASME VIII div.1 , paragraph UCS-56 , for piping the ASME B31.3 gives other curves for the bonus (for making the test temperature a bit warmer )

For storage tanks , API 650 , has its own material classification and curves for brittle fracture

Brittle fracture is an issue for carbon steel not for stainless steel.

---------------------

Most of the time low temperature and britle fracture are the main driving factor for material selection

I am not an expert in API 579 = I do not use API 579 for brittle assessments , as the clients want to use the Codes.

i already developed calculation sheet for pipe component base on API 579..

If he's in college I doubt he can afford to purchase this.

Check with the school library for a copy. If you can't find one there, check with any local engineering companies in the area for a copy.
