What's a Crankcase?

hi all..........i want to know about what is meant by a crankcase and where it is used. i've searched google, but i didn't understand the information given in the internet.

How did you google?

Results 1 - 10 of about 397,000 for what is crankcase. (0.08 seconds)

and quite a few detail about it. (in fact about the crank case oil too)

It is the case in which a crankshaft is mounted.
So in a car engine it is the lower half of main engine block usually cast iron or aluminium alloy which houses the main bearings on which the crankshaft rotates.
