Heat Treatment and Sub Zero Treatment

1.Heat treatment should be made when the part at vertical position.

2.Heat treatment includes SUB ZERO treatment prior to fine turing and pockets milling.

3.Stress reliece after fine turing and pockets milling at 300℃ for 2 hours.

Can someone explain "sub zero" to me ?thanks.

Google the word and study. This is one of the basics that are taught in heat Treatments espacially in conversion of RA.

I am sorry to say, but most of your questions would have been answered by a simple google.

Hi Wingman,

It sounds like someone has you quoting an indexable milling cutter...

The subzero treatment is used after a quench and temper heat treatment to change any residual austenite to martensite. It is a fairly common process for highly stressed tools. It is usually followed by a further temper to temper any newly formed martensite. That 300°C stress relief might be enough, depending on the type of steel.
