Dry nitrogen for transformer transportation

03/13/2010 7:43 AM

What is the difference between dry air and dry nitrogen?I have been checking my transformer manual to know the gas that was actually present in the cylinder before transportation, so that i can refill the cylinder, but as i write i am yet to know if it was dry air or dry nitrogen. Is there a way i can find out without the manual? The transformer sizes are 25MVA,150MVA,170MVA.

Under normal circumstances it must be N2 and not air. After all you want an inert gas blanket.

And afterall one does not carry air in cylinders does one?
