Spare Stator and Rotor for Alternator

03/14/2010 8:09 PM

Co-owner to NAUOI IT - I need to know where I can get spare stator and rotor for an alternator and coupled exciter or perhaps get this sent for repair including related costs.

This has to go pretty near the top of the "dumb question" list.

Where in the world are you would be a good starting point?

1) What is a NAUOI IT?

2) Try a salvage yard (used parts) for the stator.

3) Your local parts store should be able to supply the exciter and any other small components (voltage regulator, etc...)

4) If you do not wish to rebuild it yourself (most alternators are fairly simple) then use it as a core and exchange it for a re manufactured unit at your local auto parts store.

Go and get one out of a scrapped car for a few $$$s more.......

Nobody wastes money repairing such units nowadays.....getting a refurbished unit is a possible alternative if you really want to spend money.....

I've been saving money repairing my own alternators, starters, etc.. for decades.

What can I say, I'm cheap. In this economy many people are expanding their knowledge and extending their bank accounts by doing what is within there means. There are also newbies out there just trying to build their skill sets.

Alternators and starters are a good place to begin. The components are relatively inexpensive. They are simple to rebuild and help establish good electromechanical fundamentals.

The waste of money is to pay out that hard earned dough for someone else to do something for you if your perfectly capable of doing it yourself for less. Especially if that job is outsourced.

I'd still like to know what the heck a NAUOI IT is.
