Pneumatic Conveying

03/15/2010 6:27 AM

how to calculate receiving silo capacity for dilute phase pneumatic conveying.

material:fine coal dust (100 micron)

Convey length: 33m horizontal, 10m vertical

bends: 4 bends 90 dgree (D/d=5)

flow rate: 2.5t/hr

Bear in mind that coal dust is highly explosive.

If in-house design resources are not capable of doing this design safely, contract it out to an agency that can.

sorry but your question is not complete clear for me. what is you necessity? you need to dimensioning the silo or the pneumatic transport?

if you need to buy the transport system you can contact a enterprise like MAC, premier pneumatics, flexicon or any others around the world. if you tray to do your own design you can found many information on internet like tables of factors of loose pressure and minimal velocity to convey specific material.

I my self have design systems like this and work correctly but you need to over design to evite problems.

wood look.

yes i'm also trying to do a design on my own. i couldn't find out charecteristics tables for coal dust in both dense or dilute phase to scale down as necessary. where can i find out these tables. i found some books and it includes calculation and some graphs. but those graphs couldn't use for point out my flow rates.

also i need to calculate receiving silo size as to the flow rate. where can i find out these tables.
