Neutral Isolation

For Isolating neutral of normal power supply when D.G is running ( Vice versa also ) which is prefered in the below two alternatives.

1. Installing a 4 pole breaker at in the normal incomer as well as D.G incomer.

2. Installing a contactor for both the neutrals so that one remains energised when the other is open.

Why would you want to isolate the neutral from the poswer supply?
