Pacific Ocean Becomes Plastic Ocean

03/19/2010 4:01 AM

Due to our regular plastic disposals, some Gigantic Plastic Islands are forming in ocean. Refer videos at ----- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en4XzfR0FE8 ---- Please raise your voice to overcome this Problem and give suggestions to dispose these Plastics from the Ocean to protect the World. ----- Shanky

Check out this blog entry, Shanky. CR4's Sharkles has written about this topic, too.

With Plastic recycling, I wonder if something like a Cranberry harvester would be profitable enough? Since all this stuff is floating just like cranberries when harvested. I wonder if it can be harvested and recycled?

We could build a floating plasma gasification system (they are already available on large trailers) and place it in the center of these ocean-based trash heaps. They can break down any thing that can float into useful paving blocks, and the steam from the process can generate enough electricity via a turbine to power the whole process.

An intake pipe could suck the trash in. Some fish and other ocean life would be sacrificed, but they will be poisoned by the trash any way!

The cost may be high, but certainly worth it in the long run.

"Some fish and other ocean life would be sacrificed" is it possible to modify the system without disturbing SEA LIFE

Yes. One way would be for the first filter to be followed by a water tank that a human could access. Fish and other visible life could be removed and tossed back (or transported away from the trash site). A second filter could then move the trash to the Plasma arc.
