Air Cooled Chiller for Small Space

iam designing aportable air cool chiller for a small room of size 3x3 m2 , as a graduation project .My question is how do i calculate the capacity of my air chiller ? how to calcualte the blower and heat exchanger size ? what is the proper place for the blower ? i have used a simple water cooler system for cooling of the water in a small tank , then chilled water from the tank pumped throught 12"X12"X3/8" Heat exchanger and i wanna use a blower to blow the air throught the heat echanger ? Do u Think this system will cool my 3X3 m2 space ? i need your advice .

Consider these loads:

1. Heat conduction into the room through walls, floor, ceiling. Depends temperature difference between air inside and outside, solar effect on any exposed surfaces, and insulation value of the walls, floor, and ceiling.

2. Infiltration (exchange) of air through doors, windows, cracks if any, and any ventilation that may be involved.

3. Heat producing devices in the room, such as motors, heaters, lights, and electronic equipment.

4. People (or other animals) in the room and their level of activity.

The Carrier Handbook of Air Conditioning System Design is a great source, and the above topics should be searchable on line.

Nice project. Quite interesting and with immediate uses over the industry's demands.

I was designing a heat axchanger for one of our systems and found Lytron's pages quite usefull.

Also have a look in the "Tools & Technical Reference" tab links at the top of their page. I think this information will completely answer your question.

There is real data there for materials that can be used and various cooling mediums.

Great for the guys .

Also I suggest you work on a good water coil performance taking care about air flow, water flow , piping size , fins per inch .

The rigth heat transfer factor give you the capability of energy saving on chiller operation , and chiller capacity can be less as well .

Area is very small. It is 9 Sq.M. As it is academic project o.k. What is height of room you consider?.You have to keep the following data in addition to the ones mentioned in Tornado.Inside conditions to be maintained. Type of filtration of the air to be used in the room. What temperature the water is available from the water cooler?. It is like designing A.C system for a building. Any HVAC books will provide required details for this project. All the best.

I recommend you to download the '' HVAC SOLUTION'' software trial .

There you can find all info you need about elements , loads , capacities ,etc
