What are we burnishing? While I will defer to Milo on this, I don't believe the two terms are the same.

Burnishing is a surface treatment and cold rolling works the entire thickness of the material, whatever it might be.

Lead and steel will work at different pressures in both operations.

I hope this isn't homework!

This question is left way to open ended. You need to reply with all the info you have such as the type of metal and etc.

As stated by lynlynch, " Burnishing is a surface treatment and cold rolling works the entire thickness of the material"

So please supply the means for someone to help you. Waiting to here back from you.

Totally OT, but the wife's social calender has derailed my plans to be at Oaklawn this season.

Nooo!

That's alright, I'll win for you. LoL

Hey, always take care of the wife. Wish you all the best, my wife and I will be in Kohler, Wi, just south of Green Bay for most of April, so if you happen that way let us know.

Just might. We have a place just 450 miles due west of you. My current avatar is a picture of our barn behind "the little house on the prairie" in Hendricks MN.

We're almost neighbors.

I try to get back to Hot Springs a couple times a year, too. Still have family/property there.

Cheers.

I am using a CR50 wheel on a 4 1/2 reg pin conn, 4340 ann heat treated to 30 34 rc. I do this about once a year and can't remember the psi applied. We call it cold roll at work but to me it is a form burnishing. I am the only one at work left that has done this before.
