Dear Sir,

Normally we expect to get the output voltage in the designed ratio-(like

11000 V / 433 V). This is possible if we get the Input voltage as per the design

parameters which is not possible in reality. There are additional Turns to

compensate for variations in Input Voltage ( + or -) and these are connected to

a switch which can make desired connections to get proper output even the input

varies + or -.This witch is called as Tap Changer and this is the function of the Tap

Changer.

The normal variation for compensation ( Band width) is normally 95 % to

105 % of input voltage in 5 steps the middle tap being for designed (normal) output.

Let some enlighten me on " saturation in tap changer" !!

Manroop, Chennai.
