This question is about cycle gas turbo-compressor fault diagnose and i have no idea of what gear through is . Is it a component or part? Thanks

Problem: bearing temperature at gear through is too high

Possible causes:

It is a typo.

I am not sure what it was supposed to be, but it may be gear pump, maybe gear tooth, might be something else.

Gear trough, is the area where lubricating oil resides as the gear passes through it.

Sort of like a sump.

Item #23 on the parts list. I suspect that it would have had a different name if it had been "Made in USA".

But, then, hardly anything is "Made in the USA" any more.

Thanks!

I get a chuckle sometimes reading instructions for some item I've just bought. Nothing comes to mind right now, but it usually looks like it was written in one language, say German, then translated into Chinese, then into English.

My guess is that the translator thought they were correcting a mis-spelling.

It seems one of the bearing temperature is high and 'gear through' may trying to indicate location of the bearing. Most probably drive end bearing or gear side bearing.

Go here: MAINTENANCE MANUAL

and check pages 3 and 4. Page 3 shows a cut-away identifying gear trough and page 4 shows item #23 as gear trough.
