Figure it may be someone who can't use wiki for their homework , I have a lot of different diagrams and styles of these in a file cabinet from installing them in the past in our tower sites.

It does look that way.

Automatic transfer switches are so cheap these days I can't afford the time to even think about it. They often even include the controls or interfacer for starting a DG set.

Buy a certtified unit!

It is not difficult to design one, but to install one it needs to be certified as a unit. At least in our part of the world.

helazzazy,

Just google "Automatic Transfer Switch" and "Basic information simple design PLC", would give you some.

I'd tried before telling you this and I found.

Good luck and happy weekend,

Roman

Sir,

In the USA, the National Electrical Code (NEC) is available from libraries, technical bookstores, wholesalers, etc. It has sections on legally required standby systems and optional standby systems, with requirements for how much of a load must be carried by the standby system (and thus by the transfer switch). Also, how soon after power loss this must occur, as well as for how and when to re-transfer back to the restored normal power source. Such systems are required to be tested and found suitable for their intended purpose.

If (and I agree that your question sounds like homework) you want better help, go to the NEC and then ask more detailed questions about what sections really mean.
