Conductor Sizes for Swithchyard

04/03/2010 2:57 AM

Is there a big deal if I use 150mm2 and 120mm2 bare copper conductor for the earthing of a switchyard when the design clearly states that a 120mm2 bare copper conductors should be used? I don't have enough 120mm2 left. I feel technically there is no problem but am just curious, what if there is something I dont know about.

There is no big deal in it. It is much better if you stick it to its design size because your upstream protection is based on this designed cable size. The bigger the size of bare cable, the more surface area is exposed to earth when you do earth cable matting. This means the stronger your grounding or earthing is...Good Luck
