Height/distance Measurement

02/08/2007 10:11 AM

Hey,

Does anyone know of an instrument that can measure the height/displacement of an object, (i.e. measurement of inflation/deflation of a bag)

I am trying to measure the height of an object, while the height is increasing.

I know there are height gauges but these are static ones. I'm looking for one that can measure and record data while the height is increasing.

Thanks

... neutron probe reflectometry...

Seriously, there are a lot of good off the shelf laser measurement systems out there.

sorry guys, this is just a simple linear displacement measurement.

I was looking into LDT (linear displacement transducers) but they're soo expensive.

I did not want to use regular height gauge simply because this is a continuous displacement, and i require data output into the computer

I think they are called linear displacement transducers.
