Electric Heat Tracing Cable

Dear Gents,

Good Morning,

I am new member of this group, I wish to share information & discussions...

Q1: I need the calculation formulars ( as per standards) for the selection of electric heat tracing cables ( for pipes & Tanks ).

Q2: 20QTVR2-CT this cable used for heat tracing, the Number 20 stand for.......?

Welcome.

A1: this sort of thing is best discussed with the cable supplier directly.

A2: it is a type of self-regulating trace heating tape, thicker and with greater watts-per-metre output than the 15 and the 10 equivalents. Again, contact the supplier directly to discuss individual applications.

This should be a good place to start for a very basic explanation.

Answer to Question #2 - The 20 stands for 20 watts p/ft

As the previous poster stated, contact your local heat trace mfrs rep, they should be able to help you out with design issues.

A few manufacturers with global reach are Thermon and Tyco Thermal to name a few. You should be able to find a local rep in your area by visiting their website(s).
