what is the difference b/w making capacity and Breaking capacity? which is higher?

Making capacity refers to the amount of current a switching device can handle when closing the circuit, breaking capacity is how much it can handle when opening a circuit, other than during a fault condition. The breaking capacity will always be lower, that is a lot more difficult to do because as you open a set of contacts, an arc is formed and is heating the contacts rapidly.
