hi all
does any one of you guys saw some thing like this:
it is an old three phase 25kva generator, with small exciter generator to supply the main armature coil. normally on the other generators exciters i see 2 heat sinks, one is positive and the other is negative ''full wave rectifier'' both of the heat sinks are not connected to the body '' main shaft''. but one this generator the exciter armature is not full wave rectifier, its half wave rectifier ''only three diodes'' they are fitted to positive heat sink which is mounted on the main shaft ''connected to the body, grounded', the exciter rotor coils are three, they are connected Y, the three free ends are connected to these three diodes and the other three ends are connected together direct to the main generator armature coil.
i tested the three diodes and they are ok.
is it normal like this?
half wave rectifier and the cathode side of the three diodes are grounded, which mean that the main armature coil positive lead is connected to ground?
thanks alot
