Regenerative mode of motor

04/09/2010 5:57 PM

I'm not a drives person. My question is when the motor is changing from motoring to regeneration , what all the protection functions of the motor relay need to be disabled? The motor relay we have has function like 37 low load, low power, reverse power, etc.. What all other protections in the relay get affected when motor goes into regeneration?

Also when pulling the motor is in forward direction and while generating does the drive reverse the speed of the motor? Does the drive controll the speed of the motor when there is a free fall of the load? Is drive always required for regeneration?

Let's start at the beginning.

AC Squirrel Cage Induction Motor and Variable Frequency Drive?

AC synchronous motor? With or without Drive?

Wound Rotor Induction Motor? With or without drive?

DC motor and drive?

What kind of load? Overhauling? Coasting? Braking?
