Control valve sizing

04/17/2010 11:43 AM

Anybody suggest regarding the valve stroke time reduction. We have a valve with stroke time 15 sec as per control valve manufacturer. But we need to reduce it to 5 sec as per machinery vendor recommendation. Please let me how to reduce the operating time with the existing valve.

You would need to tell us more about the specific valve. If it is motor actuated, you might need to change a gear ratio if not the motor itself. If it is pneumatically actuated, there may be an auxiliary metering valve that controls the speed. And other possibilities.

For valve stroke time reduction. ussually it can be adjusted on the speed controller manually. these controller installed intended controlling speed for opening and closing.

The installation of volume boosters and quick exhaust relays will increase the speed of operation of your control valve, however the manufacturer should also be consulted since there may be some issues, not all valves are designed for a "slam" shut type of operation.
