Diesel Injector Nozzles

04/18/2010 6:44 PM

I am interested in finding the specs for diesel injector nozzles, especially the DN type. I am using a DN0SD193 for an Isuzu pup truck but am experimenting with different nozzles to improve performance using veg. oil. I am guessing from what I have been able to gather that the DN is the type, the 0 is degree spray pattern, S is the size. I'm not sure about these and am at a loss as to what the 193 and other numbers such as that at the end mean. If anyone knows about specs to decipher the "code", it would help me make some choices without just trial and error (that gets expensive!). Also, if anyone had experience with nozzles for veg. oil, that would be helpful as well. I am thinking that a wider spray pattern might help, etc.

Thanks for any help.

Veggie oil is more viscous than diesel. I should go for slightly more opening. About the spray angle: look to where it sprays.

What does the chamber look like? I think a good idea is to spend some time at night chatting to the chinese here:

Chinese have a lot of experience with cooking veggies.

Thanks for the lead. Their website is under construction now but I'll check back later. It did list the different models of nozzles for the DN style that I'm interested in- my interest is trying to find out what the differences are between the different models. I'm hoping they (or someone else reading this?) will have info on the specs. Thanks again.

If you have a diesel injection service near you, bring some donuts and chat for a while. The people that rebuild these for a living have a wealth of knowledge. In the Fort Lauderdale area, there is Everglades diesel. These people should be able to shed some light on your issue. Good luck.

Thanks for the link- only problem is they require membership ($s) just to look. Is this the right link or is there some other way to access the file. It does sound like a good source. By the way, the only local injector shop nearby couldn't really help me with the specific specs or details about the differences in the injectors.

Contact:

There seem to be only 42 DNOSD nozzle types.

Thanks for the leads. They were very helpful although it seems the exact specs. I am looking for are very proprietary and they themselves don't even have access to that info. I think that's why I'm having so much trouble. They did refer me to a specialist who does custom honing on injectors, etc. He was helpful to sort out some questions I had. So I'm getting a good education in the process.
