hai all,

this is about wpqt. i want to execute wpqt.

for eg. For wpqt our references we will use our approved Wps material SA 106 gr b pipe 6''sch40 thkness 7.11mm.

is it posible to us to qulify our welders use test piece size pipe 6''sch120/thkness 14.27mm?

kindly please advise.tq

Hi It is not possible to do this. Because there will be form some local loads. So some huge damages will form there. So We will avoid that.

What is the code you are planning to use? is it ASME?

WPQT = Welder Qualification Test ? (ie WQR?)

In ASME the thickness ranges are given for each of the WPS.

Your qualified WPS and PQR too must define the ranges. As far as I remember (I may be wrong) but both the thicknesses must fall in the same range.

But your WQR is being done on pipe? How do you do the bend test, impact test etc on the test pieces?

hai,

from what i know is, if we qualify the thickness below 13mm , the thickness should be twice than the actual thickness.

then if the thickness is above 13mm, it should be unlimited thickness.

how about the range qualify of pipe diameter if 6''sch120?

this new wps/pqr we carried out for mechanical test is four side bend test and 2 tensile test, also pwht.
