How to calculate the Current Density?

How to calculate the Current Density of Busbar and Cable.?

Generally, In India we are considering 1.6 A/Sq.mm for Copper and 0.8 A/Sq.mm for Aluminiun, But How? Please clarify......

where E is the electric field strength and σ is the electrical conductivity.
