How do I uninstall any MS updates that do not appear in the program window for uninstall when using Vista?
Another dumb question from a non IT tinkerer.
As talked about in the current thread about downgrading to MS7, I have a problem with my Vista machine, probably more than one.
The machine takes at least an hour to boot or shutdown while "configuring updates", additional updates "are waiting", per my instructions not to download or install. I tend to keep this option for any driver or non security updates that become available.
All security utilities work except Super Anti Spyware, which I have unistalled, installed newest version, and TRIED to run. Simply it does not run and takes a couple of hours to uninstall. I let my last scan run for 12 hours and it still was not completed. No change after the first couple of minutes in # of folders scanned. (stays at 2)
I also did a dumb thing recently, something which probably ties in to this whole mess.
I received an email from a very dear friend with a link to a site that tells one who has banned or blocked them on emails and the like.
I clicked on, oops, and my machine got caught. It seems similar to the DHL, Amazon, UPS crap going around, but I can still use the machine once it boots. It attacked my Yahoo email list and sent out the message to everyone, but since I immediately informed my list, it was stopped. A funny thing though, it sent emails to old contact addresses that had been deleted.
Any ideas?
