I purchased a koken barber chair and know that it needs hydrolic fluid, but I can not get it to lay back.. not sure of the year of this chair any suggestions?
I have a very old barber chair with "Koken" on foot pad. I do not believe the chair s a koken however. I will check out the recline mechanism and get back to you tomorrow if i can.
the barber would be standing behind the customer and on mine the handle [ on the right hand side of the custmr] must be pulled to the back all the way.
the small hydraulic knob/handle mounted on the large handle release turn to the outside.
the barber may sometimes give a little pull to the back. if it is still unmoving, have someone pull the bottom of the footrest lightly outwards. at the same time.
the armrests are a part of the recline mechanism. careful, my sister got her finger caught between bottom of the armrest stem and the body of the chair. stuck for 10 minutes during a very important hockey game.
check the "stems" below armrest, there is a 2 inch "dome" nut. make sure this is tight evenly between the both sides or it may be uneven.
let me know if this helps or not. even though the hydraulic is controlled on the same handle as the mechanical recliner, i don't believe they are dependent on hydr oil.
