hello i want to know weather Decade Resistance Box is used for calibration of Temperature Transmitter or Temperature element itself(RTD)...can RTD calibrated using decade resistance box?

RTD cannot be calibrated by any means, it has Platinum with fixed resistance at room temperature. It is used to cross check the RTD transmiter, by giving known resistance as input to Temperature transmitter. For Every 1 C raise in temperature RTD resistance increase by .35 ohm with 100 ohm at 0 C. We can calculate the respective temperature value with known input resistance.

Hi,

A decade box is no more than a resistor that can be given different values by turning a dial(s) or pressing a button(s)

RTD is an element used to measure temperature,it has a positive coefficient meaning that as temperature increases it's resistance increases, different types of metals are used to make RTDs and there is RTDs with different quantity of wires(minimum of two)

There is charts where you can find what value of resistance corresponds to certain temperature using a certain type of RTD. With that information you can calibrate, troubleshoot and/or check: temperature transmitters, bently nevada cards, temperature shut downs(simulate high temp. for example) and the list goes on and on.

Hope this helps ...Thank you
