05/04/2010 5:02 AM

Hi,

Can anyone please help me, I'm trying to find information on alternatives to cable armouring. If there are any and what they are?

Mineral insulated, copper clad ["MICC"] is one possibility.

Another alternative to armouring is not to armour. Inherently, the risk of mechanical damage and personal injury/death as a result is greater.

Running cables in conduit is another possibility.

Running cables in concrete trenches is another possibility.

Could you specify what the need is ?

armoured cable is armoured for a reason.#

there are lots of ways to protect cable depending on the need you also need to be aware of the laws and regulations regarding the cabling for your country, and the consequence of not protecting it in the correct way if some one is injured by your cable.

It can be a shocking subject

what is the application for the cable?

to eliminate the use of armored cable you can install cable in conduit, Duct bank, concrete wireway, or non- protected. you should check on your local regulations regarding the installation of the cable to determine what is needed and the atmosphere that it is in.

Thanks everyone for your help,

I guess it is obvious now that the alternative to armouring is not armouring and placing it in a duct or pipe etc. (stupid question)

What I was hopeing to find out is what are the alternatives to the traditional forms of armoring SWG and AWG, like what PWslack mentioned MICC.

I'm sorry this is not a real world question, for this question I'm a student.

sorry for the trouble.
