05/04/2010 10:53 PM

If anybody can help to solve me Laptop's problem with Windows 7. Few months I shifted from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Now the problem is that Windows 7 automatically re-starts the laptop exactly after 2 hours. Many times I tried with all solution it is not working and again re-starts after 2 hours of logging in.
If any body knows a solution to this issue please help me. with regards jcg

go to the settings menu and change the power settings

i assume W7 has these settings

go into performance and maintenance

Then power options

then check settings to find out why its shutting down

Hi jcq,

What version of Windows have you installed?

If you have installed the Release Candidate, then it has expired and is shutting down as part of Microsoft's efforts to encourage you to shell out for the real thing. See the link below.

http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2010/02/01/important-reminder-regarding-expiration-of-the-windows-7-rc.aspx

"starting March 1st, 2010, people still running the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) ... their PC will begin experiencing bi-hourly shutdowns"

While the RC version may be free, the genuine version is far better in functionality (IMO). I recommend upgrading to the actual version, if you have the RC installed. If you have the full (legitimate) version installed, this may be related to why it is shutting down (seems a coincedence that it is doing it after two hours).

Good luck.

GA.

A suitable warning for everyone who tries to use MS software for nothing.....though I do not like their pricing strategy at all, simply too expensive.

I am staying with XP until it cannot be further supported by myself (once MS support is gone), then I am going to switch to Linux....

It has been said that XP should be usable till around 2014......we will see....
