WPB/WPC

When specifying material for Pipeline fittings ( in oil ang natural gas service) we usually foung 2 acronyms: WPB and WPC for specifying material grade.

What does WPB and WPC mean?

CASTI Guidebook to ASME, and some other general users call

WP = Welded Pipe ; B and C are grades.

As per ASME these are Wrought products (Grades B and C) (since the welded pipe is a misleading terminology , in fact it could have been weldable pipes)
