Campus LEED Certification

I work for a large campus about 20+ buildings and we are in the process of installing control valves and automation for our entire facitlity.

Could I get any campus wide LEED certification?

To what end?

For what purpose?

There are a number of cities, counties, and states that are now handing out MANDATES for all new buildings to be Platinum or Gold LEED compliant facilities. This in addition to the federal mandates for courthouses, office buildings, and Forest Service outhouses.

"Could I get any campus wide LEED certification?" I really doubt it. Most (but not all) LEED compliance needs to be built in. Is there some incentive to do so? How large is this incentive? In a new building, the doors are about 6% of the price of the building. If ALL criteria are followed under LEED guidelines, we can contribute 3% to the LEED points. We recently tracked a project, and LEED compliant material (as opposed to traditional material of equal type), together with Chain of Custody records, administration, and licenses added about $9,000 to the job, JUST FOR THE WOOD DOORS! This added 1-1/2 points to the LEED points.

I think LEED is per building basis. Some may qualify and some not. I have a couple of questions if you have time to call me. 631-756-9116x129 Greg.

Hello Greg.

Are LEED points available for including a DCV system?
