Capacitor Current

05/13/2010 11:44 AM

Dear All,

Can please someone tell me how to calculate capacitor current per kVAr? Please elaborate with formula. As a general practice it is taken as 1.4 to 1.6 times capacitor rating but i would like to have it in detail.

Could some one explain what the capacitor rating parameters are shown in its data sheet-is there something else rather than the maximum voltage ?

FOR 3 PHASE CAPACITOR

I =KVAR/1.73 X KV

FOR 1 PHASE CAPACITORS

I=KVAR/KV
