Earth Leakage Detector

Earth leakage can be detected by sensing the 'Residual' current after vectorially adding all three-phase currents, AND any unbalanced current that may be flowing in the neutral. This is done by using a "Core Balance Current Transformer" usually referred to as a CBCT. Some very good information is avaialable here: Schneider ECT 114, please go through it.
