Silver is the best if you can afford.

Aluminium is the world-standard for power station bus bars at system voltages of 220kV. Possibly copper for compact (and short) indoor applications.

Go with aluminum this is our standard for high amp transportation under high voltage as your needs are. This cost effective one can be very reliable with gold or silver but is not worth.

Suggest that you contact manufacturer of HV equipment. They have a wide range of industry standard 220 KV applications with various bus bar ratings.

Aluminum Tubes of suitable thickness ( to avoid corona) or Strung bus using multiple conductors if the busbar length is more

5" SPS, Schedule 40 tubular aluminum bus should be adequate for this if you are planning an air-insulated station bus. It is rated approximately 3250A for 85C conductor temperature at 35C ambient. For your 220kV rating, you just need to choose appropriate support insulators, structures, etc., plus bus connectors and fittings designed for corona supression.

It could be done with any of the recommendations posted, but the most material would be C110 copper. In addition to that, connection points can be silver plated to reduce heating.

Thanks for the reply, but I guess Aluminium will be cheaper. Isn't it?

Hi Panneer Selvam & All:

Regarding Corona in 220kV Al tubes, I think Al tubes of same current rating have higher diameter than conventional AAAC ones, causing lesser corona loss.
