I doubt there is a standard time for these steps; it would depend on the recommendations of each equipment manufacturer. You are quite correct to seek this information; with luck it will be in the genset manual.

If the engine is equipped with a heated cooling water system, it will be ready to go and take load on short notice. Generally speaking, a few minutes each of warmup and cooldown is desirable. If possible add or drop loads sequentially rather than all at once.

Dear Sir,

There is no time such as a standard time. It all depends on the

manufacturers recommendations. Generally Gensets above 160 Kva need

warm up time of 60 secs for the voltage to build up. In fact in our corporate

office the 160 Kva DG starts and the load transfer takes place with in 11 Secs.

In one of our Projects we have a 320 Kva DG with total load transfer time

of 65 Secs ( warm up- 60 secs & ATS of 5 Secs). It all depends on the load

that will come through the ATS on switching, the voltage build-up curve , the

governer responce charastics etc.( This is for a single DG set only & for multiple

sets you may have to consider the reactive kva also).
