Lifting a Transformer

05/18/2010 3:09 PM

We have a 100T transformer that we want to lift and put on a trailer (bvzhy) but we don't have a crane in the site. So we must design a lifting structure with for example beams and hydraulic jacks and etc.

Therefore I want some information about these structures, please.

why not make a long trench and park the trailer into it then using rollers slide it onto the trailer ?

no need for crane. might be a problem at the other end.

Or jack transformer up leaving a gap at one end and reverse the trailer under the transformer, Then lower it at the other end do the reverse.

no cranes needed

next time you build a large transformer build it on two raised plinths leaving a gap under the transformer so a trailer can be reversed under it, then lower the side plinths

then use jacks at the other end to unload

I gave you a GA for #1. It was simple and effective. I didn't care for your second post.

Hold on there!!! You are handling a very heavy object. As soon as a part of the weight goes on to the truck the suspensions will lower down and you will find the transformer the other side of the pit. Use the way Egyptians built the pyramids. We are better off now since we can apply an inclined plane to the back of the truck and pull it up with a winche. Good luck and be careful.

For 100T, the truck is going to be a lowboy (Load area lower than the tire tops), so the transformer must enter from the side, or else you have to lift it above the tires. I too like post #1!

This guy here shows one way how to move heavy objects (stone/concrete) horizontally and vertically. I don't know if you can use it for transformers.. but it is very interesting. I ordered the video CD. took a couple of weeks to get here.
