PWHT - Hot Tap

In case we are taking hot tap and requirement calls for PWHT..then is it possible to do in this case?? If yes then how?? Thanx in advance.

The term "Hot-Tap" means that you will be doing welding and cutting on an existing pipeline while the line is in operation. That means that the commodity may be static of flowing at the time.

You did not share with us what the commodity is in your line. It could be a non-flammable fluid such as water, Or it could be a flammable fluid such as oil or gasoline, or it could be a flammable vapor such as natural gas.

So with that in mind you could not and would not want to do a Post Weld Heat Treat (PWHT) on an active line.

If it is flowing (water, oil or gas) it would carry away the heat and not be able to accomplish an effective PWHT.

If the line is not flowing then you would be building so much heat for a long period of time and risk an explosion and possible fire.
