What are the three benefits of control valves?

I only know two. On. Off. There's actually more than one "on", but only one "off".

1. The system designer may get a larger fee for designing a more expensive system.

2. The pipefitters earn extra wages for installing the extra equipment.

3. The system operators gain flexibility: Not only on and off, but other Goldilocks values in between (i.e., modulation).

4. The valve manufacturer scores an additional sale.

5. The fluid is happier to be treated with TLC.

6. Etc.
