The Little Dog Robot

05/26/2010 1:05 PM

First thing I thought of when I saw this robot dog video was "I gotta share this with the CR4 folks!" Upon seeing this video, I found my mind was perceiving this robot as a living creature. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I.

VERY cool!

I was waiting for him to poop a battery! Lifelike motion, adaptive, almost seemed cognitive. If I understand, the adaptive ability is not cognitive, but learned by trial and error, then adjusting itself on the next attempt.

Thanks for that Mousejockey. Nice.

Interesting and cool.

I did not perceive it as a dog, but more like a large insect with only 4 legs......

Shame it did not have a "head" (totally unneeded of course for function)......maybe then I would have thought of it more as a dog or cat....

Yes, some of the engineers here were watching the video with me and one of them said the same thing. That the robot moved around much like a beatle.

I'm impressed. To me, the motion was less insect and more puppy-like. There might be insights into biological learning to be gained from this work.
