What are the effects of coils which are included in circuit while meggering terminals in main distribution pannel?

The coils act just like an inductor!! (Ta dah)

Now using my natural mind reading capability across the internet, I see that this guest has each of these coils wired in series with the rest of the circuit. No, wait a minute, another guest has the coils of some relays wired in parallel to chassis ground. Naughty guest, no current should intentionally run to ground. Wait, I'm picking up another image from a guest. This guest has the coils wired in a Wye configuration. Hold on I'm getting another wiring image now, these coils have no insulation coating at all. That seems strange, but wait the coils are going into an ultra high vacuum chamber that cannot cope with insulation out gassing. That an interesting experiment. Hold it, I'm getting another image....

Wow, when only Doorman was the only who replied I had two GA votes to rate a full Good Answer. Now I must have two OT to precisely negate the GA votes. Now I know that a GA is not at all a useful commodity but if I offended somebody or a moderator felt that I offended this guest, would you please tell me how?

Hmm. That is sort of odd.

I have discovered if a moderator is agitated, they can be swift to strike with the OT hammer. See my 166 OT here! I really doubt admin would have clipped you on this thread. Perhaps some thin-skinned members or Guests?

I wonder how many OT I can rack up on this thread? I'll start with 5.

Your post wasn't moderated. What would be the point of taking away your good answer? Possibly another user didn't like your answer.

Please first learn about what is meggering. Then you can understand the "effects"

I stand corrected but i believe the coils will prevent damage to the meter should a terminal be live. You should then take the coils resistance into consideration when reading the test values.

i am sure glad to live in america where 12 year olds are taught basic algebra and electricity...

a wire wound coil is an INDUCTOR

inductors RESIST current change proportional to the number of windings, core, and magnetic influences

mr. tesla produced some interesting coils...

the effect upon your megger reading is nil, 0, nada

The coils have very low resistance, so will appear as a short circuit to a megger.
