Grinding Process, Reusable Slug?

05/26/2010 11:22 PM

In our Manufacturing plant ( diesel fuel systems) , we are consuming about 100 grinding wheel per day average. but the problem is we cant able to dispose the grinding slug( Sand + Aluminium Oxide + Material particle). Is it possible to convert slug into an any form of energy?

What's the reason for not being able to dispose the grinding slug? Some sort of contamination?

its is the combination of metalic particles , sand ( from grinding wheel) and Aluminium oxide ( from grinding wheel). we cant able to separate this combinations and hence it will affect environment if we dump in soil.

No, I'm fairly sure it will have no energy content.

But it doesn't sound particularly toxic, for landfill. If there's an objection to the metal particles, you could treat the waste with dilute acid to dissolve the metal, separate it from the sand etc, and precipitate metal hydroxide at high pH.
