Alternative Power Supply in Nigeria

05/27/2010 5:27 AM

I have been working on series of options on the above topic. The most recent is the use of DC motor o run my AC alternator which in turn generates light but the challenge here is that the DC motor started smokking. What can I do to improve on this.

tell it to stop smoking !

could you please add further information.

why are you using a dc motor to drive an alternator ?

whats the voltage of dc motor ?

why dont you convert dc into ac using an inverter ?

what I understand with some fog from your post, ...

your are working alternative power supply issues of Nigeria.( in charge?)

The method used in Nigeria to run AC alternator by DC motor is standard? as per local authority direction?

May be you are very consious about green world and decided to not use any diesel generator?

started smokking??....still smokking?....finished smokking?....what is the condition of your DC motor now?

One way to stop the DC motor smoking [] is to make sure its protective device(s) are working properly.

As far as alternative sources of power are concerned, there's plenty of sunshine in Nigeria - one could use that instead, pehaps?
