1. Don't waste your time. Unless you drive your car at full throttle most of the time you won't notice any difference. Certainly none that you can measure.

2. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The K&N is a washable type with high performance filtration characteristics

Thanks. I put one on my pickup last year. Couldn't tell any difference in fuel consumption.

I'm with peterg7lyq on this and you probably are trying to gain economy rather than preformance.

Firstly, plumbing into a cold air supply, one that's not full of spray when it rains, usually means snaking long pipes through a crowded engine bay. You can waste days drilling stuff into your car's bodywork and still end up with an ugly product. And an exposed air filter can be a fire hazard if it gets oiled up.

Secondly, your car's intake tract geometry is already tuned for general responsiveness, and K&N make free-breathing filter elements that drop right into your existing airbox. A bare pod filter might sound great but without a well designed inlet resonator you can end up with flat spots anywhere across the rev range and possibly no gain in top end hp. Pod filters make more sense on turbocharged engines, because the turbo itself irons out the inlet pulsations.

Thirdly, the MAF sensor means you'll always get correct mixture, so forget all the fokelore about fuel economy that grew up around engines with carburettors.
