"what is the power required for lighting the advertisements? Check your records.

how much power can we save if we avoid such lighting?" All of it. Minus my consulting fee.

Versus how much business will you lose if you don't illuminate the advertising?

(Damn, always a downside.)

Management power from your marketing department is required to lighting the advertisement.

The same power you can save and they can use it for another purpose.

Very subjective,

It depend on few factors such as how many the lighting is, what's the lighting wattage, how big is the ads, where you place the ads and etc.

All above is inter-related but the most important things is "Money that matters". If your ads is big, most probably you need more lighting then more wattage you will consume. More wattage, meaning that more electricity bill you have to pay. If you place your ads at higher point, then you need longer cable and more money you need to spend for cable's cost.

My advice, if you run your business at night, then light-up your ads so then people can see you from far. If not, better spend that money for charity (this is one of the marketing strategy).

ya the topic is very subjective.......

but i juz thought abt it bcos of frequent power failure and demand for power.......if we stop using such lighting for advertisement.we can save lot of power and thus power failure also decreases......... or y cant we go for renewable sources for lighting the advertisement?????????

The more pertinent question is; what is the limit of power for lighting advertising?

You need to check your State, County and local ordinances for:

Signage, Energy use, and environmental regulations / ordinances.

It's possible to get the information from the permiting authority, but you should consider hiring a professional.

In addition, assuming the advertisement is outside, consideration should be given to existing "ambient" lighting, lighting tresspass regulations, if any, and "Dark Skies".

Power saved, is obviously relative to how much light and what illuminaition source is used. You also need to consider maintenace of the sign & related lighting.

More illumination, is not necessarily better or required.

or just light the thing up, & wait for someone to complain.
