Technology changes, but when I was in school, the steel passed through a chamber with a vacuum drawn it. The molten lead was sprayed into the steel as it passed through. This would work fine for a continuous process.

Density differential between Steel and lead is the essential problem for you to solve from your customer's point of view.
Sulfur and cracking is the yield issue that you will have to solve to minimize in process yield loss.
As you have not provided any details of your process: billet or bloom cast, electric furnace or BOF, This is about all the counsel I feel comfortable sharing.
