Wearing of Turbine

How could the remaining sediment affect parts of turbine like head cover, wearing rings, bottom cover, labyrinth rings etc?

Clogging of small parts, premature wear & tear due to abrasion, leakage caused by sediments damaging seals or preventing proper seating & mating of components etc.
