It is the most that you can get at any time on command. You have now reached my maximum reply.

It is the maximum Apparent Power Demand or Real Power Demand drawn from the mains by a customer at any given instant.

if you drop a metal spanner across a 12 volt car battery you will get an instantanius discharge of all the power in the battery that will be the maximum amps from the battery.

Ps you may wish to stand behind a wall when you do this, because the internal resistance of the lead acid battery is low the battery will try to discharge all its power in an instant and the following explosion and fragmentation of the battery is best observed from behind somthing solid.

Been there done that, But no wall just very lucky.

Dear Guest,

Generally in electrical energy meters ( during power restriction

periods) we take care not to cross the allotted demand . In that case the MD

allotted becomes our Instantaneous & Maximum demand. In any factory there will

be machines that need to start together ( may be a process requirement). These

machines have their individual MD ( depends on their Kw & power factor). When

they start together their total MD becomes the Inst.Demand.While these

equipments reach a steady state the Running Demand may be around 80 % of

Inst.Demand. Nowadays there are meters that show Inst. Demand & MD averaged

over 30 minutes period.

With Due regards,

Manroop.Chennai.
