Do 3 phase motor require a neutral

I am not able to give you the proper answer. But you will get good enough continuied by this reply. A 3 phase motor required neutral only. Are you just landed from the space right now??...

NO. A 3 phase motor does not require a neutral. Refer to the name plate for the voltage rating of the motor.

Only a source (generator, distribution transformer) will have a neutral.

To wire a three phase motor in a Wye configuration, one should include a neutral connection. But I believe that technically this is not required, only advised. To wire a three phase motor in a delta configuration obviously does not requires a neutral.

In 35+ years in this industry, I have never once seen a wye wound motor wired with a neutral circuit brought out to the peckerhead.

If it is wired in star at the motor terminals, any neutral provided will carry any imbalance current between the three phases. It is not usually needed.

If it is connected in delta or to a star-delta starter, then a neutral cannot be connected; there is no scope for it.

If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

Thanks everybody....i removed the neutral now. I wired 4 wires to motor and i couldnt see the place for connecting the neutral...is it ok if i connect neutral alongwith one of the terminal..U,V, or W??

Not necessary. You could however keep it set aside as a replacement should you have a problem with one of the other conductors that does not involve it's conduit mates.
