Dark Screen On iPod Touch

06/16/2010 12:15 AM

Friend mentioned to me his itouch has gone dark. does not remember harming it in any way. Is it repairable. I am a little leary about the You tube videos as they show different answers and look like they just want to sell their product.

I know this isn't an iPod Touch, but does it look anything like this display on this iPod Nano?

Or is it just completely black everywhere? Hold it under the light and you might be able to see a crack. Are you sure it's turning on?

Is there something in the preferences that has been changed to reduce the power used. I'm sure they have something like that to make the battery last longer.

Just a thought.

I thought something similar that for some reason power is not going to part of the unit as everything else works fine. I just set it back to factory settings hoping this would fix the problem. It did not, I now have 3 options

1. Do nothing and use for music mainly

2. Open unit and replace LCD and hope not to break anything in the process

3. Spend more money and get it repaired, almost cost of new unit

4. try to sell

Ah, I should have thought it was the backlight earlier. It does sound like the backlight is broken if you can still see an image but it's just very dark.

I can repair this for you, http://www.jgnetworks.com My prices are almost always lower than anywhere else, so don't worry too much that you'll be spending more to get it fixed than it would cost to buy a new one.

I would also buy it if you wish to sell it. Just let me know if you want to sell it or get it fixed in the "Get a Fast Quote" form on JG Networks. I'll give you a quote either way. I'll also need to know what generation the iPod Touch is. You can see the differences here. Thanks!
