Alternator Resistance

06/18/2010 10:13 PM

Are the ends of the stator windings, per phase, of a car alternator connected or soldered together? One end connected to the neutral and the other to the output terminal? Essentially, are all the wires in parallel? E.g., a one-meter-long bundle of ten turns of 14 ga. wire. Each wire would have a resistance of 0.008286 Ω. Would the equivalent resistance be [10 x (1/0.008286)]-1 = 0.0008286 Ω...? If this calculation or conceptualization is incorrect, what theoretical method would I use? Thanks much for your reply.

No on all your questions. What about your diodes? Are you trying to rewind a stator? If yes, take the wire out, measure size and length an try to put it back the same way.
