Let's hear it for the "earth resistanc for industry"

Hip Hip Hooray

Hip Hip Hooray

Sorry about that, but I have no idea what information you are looking for. Most of the assumptions I could make to attempt an answer will likely be wrong and may be dangerous if you actually act on my information. Your statement could refer to earthing resistance and industrial power grid wiring or how mother nature will always try to reclaim what is rightfully hers. I just do not understand you.

Value must be less than 2 ohm, If it is more than this value we have to design the earthing system to achive this.

Where from you got that "Less than 2 Ohms"? Can you trace it back to any National and/or International Standards?

As far as I know - and, I am in this field for about 27 years now - no standard on earth (pun unintentional), I repeat - no standard on earth - has anywhere specified about a certain absolute maximum value for system earth resistance. Everywhere, it only said "low enough". How much is low enough?

The fact is that the earth resistance value should be low enough as to cause a sufficiently large fault current to flow in the network during an earth fault, so that the protective devices operate in time before damage is caused to the operator and/or to the system.

Dear Guest ,

What answer do you expect from such thread ? Earth resistance is maintained for electrical system and not for Industry. Earthing is for electrical substations , distribution system , transformers , lightening arrestors , LP system, static earth system etc. So be specific in your question so that some one can provide a reply.

It depends on what local electrical standard you are working to (it varies from country to country, from industry to industry and from application to application).

Please provide more information if you are seriously after a more detailed explanation.

Is this the shortest ever CR4 thread question - just four words?
